Hot Springs

Hola! My calendar keeps telling me that is is May (and will be June in just a few days!). I don't know where the time has gone, but I am glad that I got to spend it with my friends and family. They are the best.

I am going to attempt to document a few of our adventures, starting with our trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas to celebrate 30 years of my man.

I wanted to do something special for him, because he is a pretty special guy. Jesse is not very big on birthdays, but I wanted to make sure that we celebrated big time for the big 3-0. He wanted it to be a surprise, so that's what we did. We took off the Friday before his birthday, expecting a few snow flurries and a good time. I think we may have gotten more than we bargained for with the snow, but it was incredible nonetheless.

We got to Hot Springs around noon, and found our sweet little cabin in the woods. It was something straight out of the cheesiest Hallmark movie that I have ever seen, but in the best way possible. I saw pictures on the website before booking the cabin, but I had no idea what a treat we were in for.

When we got to HS, it was cold, but nothing really out of the ordinary. We got the car unpacked, then headed to town to see what we could see. While walking around town, it started to snow. The softest, prettiest little flurries. We really didn't think much of it. Then it didn't stop snowing..for the next 12 hours. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely not complaining. It was magical. But, it was also a little intimidating for this Louisiana girl. I get excited over a handful of flurries every few years. 

We made it home (very slowly) on the snow covered hills (landslide anyone?). You can't tell from the pictures, but the driveway to our cabin was long and very steep. Adding ice/snow to the mix was terrifying, but Jesse handled it like a pro (duh). The next morning we were snowed in. 

This is the top of the driveway. So beautiful! I never wanted to leave. Which is lucky for us, because we really weren't able to get down the hill at all Saturday.

How we spent our Saturday. Skip bo, hot tea, movies, a warm fire..Pretty much the perfect "snowed in" experience. 

The top two pictures are from the master bedroom (that also had a loft with a little bed in it). And the bottom two are from the smaller room. 

My favorite thing about the cabin is all of the different details. I know that the owner put so much time and love into finding all of the little treasures that are in the cabin. My iPhone pictures don't really compliment the place, but I would definitely recommend staying there. 

Sunday, we shopped at an antique mall until they closed (Jesse was in antique heaven), and we didn't head back to WM until 6. We had such a great time, and were sad to come home.
